Your Hosts

Your hosts for the evening will be;

Lord Quinten Daventry

The genial host at his birthday party this evening. The only son of Lord Harold and Lady Henrietta Daventry who were both tragically killed in a car accident. He is now Lord of the family estate and the Manor. There are many rumours that his gambling habit and decadent lifestyle have left him in serious debt. He is very close to and fond of his Aunt Maude.

Miss Fanny Farquar

Miss Fanny is from an exceedingly wealthy family and her parents live in India. They own vast amounts of land and property. Miss Fanny is independently wealthy, receiving a large monthly allowance from her father. Until recently she has done very little with her life until she met Gwendella Garavinah. Gwendella has encouraged Miss Fanny to take up painting and to apparently develop a keen interest in the arts. Miss Fanny has a very nervous disposition for which she takes medication and is not renowned for either her wit nor her personality.

Colonel Bernard Braithwaite-Ramsey

Great Uncle Bernie, as he is known, is the Uncle of Quinten’s mother. He was a senior officer in the British Army during the First World War. He strongly disapproves of Quinten’s lifestyle and gambling habits but since he came of age he has been powerless to take action. He is very fond of Miss Fanny, seeing her as someone who will “calm” Quinten down. He is a lecherous gentleman with a particular fondness for Aunt Maude.

Lady Mary Maude McDaventry

Aunt Maude (or Nanny Maude) was Quinten’s Nanny and was given the right to use the Daventry name by his father, Harold, in honour of her work and devotion to duty. She is an eccentric lady who adores Quinten. She is a psychic and an amateur detective. There are rather scandalous rumours surrounding the closeness of her relationship with Quinten’s father- some have even suggested that she may be his mother. She is known for her inquisitive and, at times, interfering nature.

Captain Montague Smedley-Downes

A Captain in the British Army and Miss Fanny’s close friend for the past four years. Society thought that the two were an excellent match yet Monty never seemed to get around to proposing to her. He is now devastated by Miss Fanny’s whirlwind romance with Lord Quinten and is distraught that the couple may marry. He has invited himself along this evening in the hope that he can convince Miss Fanny that he is the man for her. The man is generally considered to be a total twit.

Miss Gwendella Garavinah

Miss Garavinah is Miss Fanny’s tutor and mentor in the arts. She claims to be a mystic advisor to the rich and famous. Little else is known of her background but many rumours abound.

Roger the Butler 0r Gertrude the Maid

You’ll never be sure until the night if you’ll be meeting Roger the Butler or Gertrude the Maid, new additions to the household staff. In fact, the only member of staff as the others have been hired just for this evening. The original household employees have recently been made redundant as a result of Quinten’s financial difficulties. They came to the Manor with glowing references yet was, surprisingly, prepared to work for virtually nothing and seems to spend  more time gazing at the splendours of the Manor than actually cleaning or organising them.
